Welcoming Our Interns Back: A Heartfelt Reflection
Published: 05 Feb 2025, 7:03 AM
At Jiangxia Mining, we believe internships go beyond just work experienceโthey are opportunities for growth, learning, and meaningful engagement with the community. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming back two of our former interns for an Intern Reflection and Feedback Session. It was a valuable moment to hear firsthand about their experiencesโthe lessons they learned, the challenges they faced, and how we can further enhance our program to better support young talent.
Excitement filled the room as our interns returned, greeted by familiar faces and warm smiles. They reconnected with the team, shared their journey, and reflected on the skills they gained during their time with us.
โIโve learned more about gold mining here than anywhere else Iโve interned before,โ one intern said with enthusiasm. This reaffirmed our belief that internships should not just be about tasksโthey should be about being part of a team, gaining hands-on experience, and building a professional network.
Lessons Learned & Personal Growth
When asked about their key takeaways, their responses highlighted the depth of their experience. They emphasized not only the technical knowledge they acquired but also the soft skills that will help them in their careers.
โBefore this internship, I wasnโt sure how well I could apply what I learned in school. But working here helped me realize that Iโm more capable than I thought. The team took me into the fieldโit wasnโt just about books and slides.โ
Another intern spoke about the positive and inclusive work environment, saying:
โI donโt know how to express this feeling, but I could truly feel that everyone here is genuinely kind. The team encouraged me to ask questions, take initiative, and be involved in real projects.โ
At the same time, our interns also pointed out areas where improvements are needed, which we deeply appreciate and take seriously.
One key challenge they faced was communication barriers with some foreign technicians. Due to language differences, they sometimes struggled to fully understand technical concepts and receive guidance. This highlights an important area where we can enhance communication between international and local staff to ensure effective knowledge transfer.
Supporting Local Talent & Enhancing Training, Building a Sustainable Future Together
Jiangxia Mining is dedicated to developing more local talent and placing them in key positions, ensuring they can mentor and guide the next generation of professionals.
Currently, several key departments including HR, Administration, and Finance are already led by local professionals, which reflects our belief in empowering Cambodian talent and strengthening local leadership.
As we wrapped up the session, we asked if our interns would consider returning for future projects. Their enthusiastic โYes!โ reinforced the strong connections weโve built. Though their internship has officially ended, they remain part of our Jiangxia Mining family, and we will continue to support their professional growth.
By addressing challenges and continuously improving our program, we reaffirm our dedication to shaping the future of local talent and strengthening our impact in the community.
We look forward to training more local professionals, expanding opportunities, and creating a work environment where everyone can thrive.
